This story was written about you and me:
You turn the key
Then close the door behind you
Drop your bags on the floor
You reach for the light
But there's darkness deep inside
And you can't take it anymore
'Cause sometimes living takes the life out of you
And sometimes living is all you can do
CHORUS
Life is hard, the world is cold
We're barely young and then we're old
But every falling tear is always understood
Yes, life is hard, but God is good
You start to cry
'Cause you've been strong for so long
And that's not how you feel
You try to pray
But there's nothing left to say
So you just quietly kneel
In the silence of all that you face
God will give you His mercy and grace
Jesus never said
It was an easy road to travel
He only said that you would never be alone
So when your last thread of hope
Begins to come unraveled
Don't give up, He walks beside you
On this journey home...
and He knows...
CHORUS
Life is hard, the world is cold
We're barely young and then we're old
But every falling tear is always understood
Yes, life is hard, but God is good.
These are words to a song. It’s the type of song that tells EVERBODY’S story. Everyone struggles.
Everyone wonders, “Is this the best life can be for me?”
Everyone feels abandoned at times.
The Bible speaks of One Who will hold your hand when all others have left your side. But this cannot happen without belief in Who He really is.
Hebrews 4:15 is from a book of the Bible expressly written to first-century Jewish converts to Christianity. The verse reads like this:
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted (meaning, “tested”) like as we are, yet without sin.”
The word “infirmity” means, “weakness” or “feebleness”. Even for the most powerful athlete, “infirmity” describes us all. We are all only one heartbeat away from trouble.
Who is this “high priest” described in the verse? Is it a Catholic priest? Not at all - this was written centuries before the Catholic Church ever existed!
“Priest” is a word for a title: it is a man who officiates in sacred offices, like an Imam. All religions have a priest, of sorts; the titles change, but the purposes are similar.
In Eid al-Adha, the patriarch of the family plays the role of a priest as a sacrifice of commemoration is observed, but he is not a HIGH priest, or an Imam.
In primitive ages, the father of a family also served in the role of priest. Kings and princes have served in this role. Cain, Abel, Issac, Jacob, Abraham and many others offered up sacrifices in their homes as well.
But notice the rest of Hebrews 4:15, “...but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”
The verse speaks of someone who had never sinned; no sin on His record. Only God can lay claim to this.
You can study this for yourself: the Book of Hebrews explains to Hebrew readers (hence the name) the TRUE MEANING of the God-given ceremonies, the ordinances and the symbols brought down from God and given to Moses. These became commands for the Hebrew people to follow...but the historic truth of them would be much greater than we could imagine.
Notice that same verse in context, from the Bible, in Hebrews 4:14 - 16:
“Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Through this high priest without sin, Jesus Christ, unlike any other priest before or since....the Bible says that weary, lonely discouraged believers can find “grace to help in time of need.” But with unbelief, this is totally impossible.
The Devil would like nothing more than to prevent you from obtaining mercy. This is why he invented religion. Religion is the futile effort to earn God’s gift by doing it man’s way. Man’s way is filled with rules, regulations, rituals and works that will NEVER bring favor with God.
But Jesus Christ came to earth to satisfy the rules, not become another one of them!
In Catholicism, Jesus Christ is a martyr, not a Saviour. This is not the Bible way.
In the world’s religions, Jesus Christ is merely a good man, a teacher, a Rabbi, a prophet... This also is not the Bible way.
Understand that the Devil will not acknowledge Him as God: to do so would be to allow the solution to man’s sin. The Devil CANNOT hurt God. Therefore, the Devil’s only goal is to deceive and destroy the people God loves by taking them to Hell for eternity.
Many believe the first part of this statement, but deny the second part: “Life Is Hard, but God is GOOD.” Both statements are true.
We live in a sin-cursed world, and the effects of sin is a destroyed life, and a soul banished to Hell. But God defeated sin on the cross (another truth the Devil hates), so that even in a world where there is suffering and death, God is able to throw out His lifeline to YOU, through Jesus Christ.
There is really only one thing that will stop you. Unbelief in God’s Holy Word. He mentions this in four verses from this same Book of the Bible:
Hebrews 3:12 - “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.”
2) Hebrews 3:19 - “Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of
you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living
God.”
3). Hebrews 4:6 - “Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must
enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered
not in because of unbelief:”
4). Hebrews 4:11 - “Seeing therefore it remaineth that some
must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached
entered not in because of unbelief:”
